Terms of Service
Version 2026-10-22.1
Who we are
Home Transition is a trading name of New Energy Education Limited, a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 16955844, registered office Apartment 4 Atlas Mansions, 120 Blythe Road, London W14 0HD. These terms apply to the Home Transition assessment service at hometransition.co.uk. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data and forms part of these terms.
What you are buying
An independent assessment of your home’s energy options: solar, battery storage, heat pump, EV charging and tariff choice, modelled on your own half-hourly consumption and public data about your property. The Home Assessment (£15) delivers the report as a private web link. Assessment Plus (£475) adds a 30-minute review call, six months of follow-up, a written review of up to three installer quotes and priority email support.
We are independent. We take no referral fees, commissions or introductions from installers, suppliers or lenders, and we do not sell or install equipment.
What the report is, and is not
The report is a model of likely outcomes based on the data available to us. It is not a guarantee of savings, generation or payback, which depend on future prices, weather, your behaviour and the quality of any installation. It is not a structural, electrical or roof survey, and it does not replace the site survey an installer must carry out. Where we rely on public data (your EPC, aerial imagery, tariff tables) we say so, and that data can be wrong or out of date. We do not ask about your electricity supply: the report assumes a standard single-phase supply, as almost every UK home has, and the installer confirms it on survey.
Your smart-meter data
The assessment is at its best with a year of half-hourly readings. You can upload them yourself as a CSV, give us your consent to collect them through n3rgy data ltd (below), or, if you have no smart meter, give us your annual usage from a bill and a few details about your home for a less precise report. If you consent, we collect them through n3rgy data ltd, a Smart Energy Code party that retrieves readings from the national smart metering network. If you consent:
- We collect up to 13 months of half-hourly electricity and gas readings for the address you are consenting for, and no earlier than the month you tell us you moved in.
- We collect the history once. When it has arrived we withdraw the consent ourselves; readings do not keep flowing to us afterwards.
- To confirm that the person consenting lives at the address, our agreement with n3rgy requires us to check the payment card against the billing address (card security code, address verification and 3-D Secure) and to match the address to the smart meters installed there. If any check fails we cannot lodge the consent and we offer you the CSV route instead.
- We hold the record of your consent (the statement you ticked, when, the card check results without your card number, and the meter point numbers) for four years, as the Smart Energy Code requires. Readings are held against an assessment reference rather than your name, for 24 months.
- You can withdraw your consent at any time from your assessment page or by emailing angus@hometransition.co.uk. We notify n3rgy immediately for a withdrawal made on the site and within one business day for one made by email. If you withdraw before the readings arrive, we will ask you for a CSV or refund you.
- A consent lasts at most twelve months. We never roll one over without asking you again.
Payment, cancellation and refunds
Payments are taken by Stripe at the time of booking. For a booking covered in full by a voucher or promo code, Stripe still verifies the card (nothing is charged) because the card check is part of the consent process above. You can cancel for a full refund at any time before we have started the analysis. Once the report has been delivered the fee is not refundable, except where we have failed to deliver what is described here. If we cannot produce a report (for example because no usable consumption data can be obtained) we refund you in full.
Your responsibilities
You confirm that you are entitled to authorise the collection of smart-meter data for the address, that the details you give us are accurate, and that you will not share your private report link with anyone you do not want to see it. The report is for your personal use in deciding about your own home.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise our liability to you in connection with an assessment is limited to the fee you paid for it. We are not liable for decisions taken, or purchases made, on the basis of the report, or for the work of any installer you engage.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the version you agreed to is recorded with your booking and continues to apply to it. Questions to angus@hometransition.co.uk. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
